Matthew 25 Sponsorship Program
Kardias Ministries is excited to announce a new program: the Matthew 25 Sponsorship
Program. The purpose of this program is to allow individuals the ability to sponsor
an orphan or a widow in an international area.
Maybe you will choose an orphan like Revathy, who suffers the shame of a father who is a drunkard.
In India, the word "orphan" doesn't follow the strict definition used in America
where the parents are dead or unknown. In India, orphan more often describes children
who have been thrown away from their family. The father is a bum; the mother is
poor or cruel, and everyone seems to have more than one partner to create very complicated
mixed families. In all of this drama, the children are left to fend for themselves
or die.
Revathy, an orphan in Chennai, comes from a broken home.
Kardias Ministries, working through the local orphanages, desires to improve the
lives of these orphans by providing for the basics of life, giving them a sense
of security and stability. In addition, the orphans will hear a different message
than they hear from their own culture: God loves you, and there is hope for a better
future. If you sponsor an orphan, part of that hope can come from you.
Or maybe you will sponsor a widow like Chettemma. When she was
younger, she suffered a very high fever which caused her to lose sight in both of
her eyes. Years ago, her husband left her for other women, leaving her with no support,
and no children. With her disability and her age, she has no way to provide for
herself. But she believes in One who will provide everything she needs, if she will
keep her vision focused on the Kingdon of God and His righteousness. If you sponsor
this widow, you can be the hands through which Christ works to provide for her earthly
needs.
Chettamma, a blind widow near Kakinada, India, cannot provide for herself.
By sponsoring an orphan or a widow, you will commit to providing a set amount of
money per month for a set amount of time. This money will be used to provide for
the basic needs of the orphans or widows: Food, shelter, clothing, and medicine.
As you provide for the needs of orphans and widows, you will be playing a part in
fulfilling the words of the King in Matthew 25:40:
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of
the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" NIV
This program has been started using a manual sponsorship method. First, select whether
you would like to sponsor an orphan or a
widow.
We don't desire to stay with a manual method for long, but it works for now
in order to get things started. In the future, Kardias Ministries has the following
goals for the Matthew 25 Sponsorship Program.
Short Term Goals
- Database-enable the widow and orphan information.
- Send out quarterly reports for each location.
Long Term Goals
- Allow users to be able to sponsor widows and orphans via the web site (i.e. pay
via PayPal or equivelent).
