Kardias Ministries Newsletter June 2009
Camp Outreach 2009
As you know, Kardias Ministries works in cooperation with
Common Ground Christian Ministries. The largest regular event that we
organize is Camp Outreach (CO). This
event is designed to focus on intense service to our local community, meaningful
connection with each other, and rich relationship with our Lord. The dates for this
year’s CO is July 12-18, 2009 in Indianapolis, and July 26-August 1, 2009 in Lincoln,
CA. The application deadline is just a few days away (June 20). If you want an opportunity
for genuine service and relationship, we’d love to see you at one of these events.
You can find an application on the web site.
To give you a sense of what the spirit of Camp Outreach is all about, please take

Gampala House of God
Speaking of improving a house to benefit a widow, we are very excited to announce
that the tiling work for the House of God in Lanka has been accomplished. The purpose
of this tiling was two-fold.
Firstly, by tiling the room the Gampala family is now able to move some of the widows
into this room where they can live full-time. This will benefit the widows because
they will be able to receive better care from the Gampalas, and will benefit the
Gampalas by consolidating some of the neediest widows whom they were already serving
into one location.
Secondly, by tiling the room, the House of God is made more beautiful, and the church
praises God for providing such a wonderful blessing for their congregation.

Mission India 2009
The matter has been prayed over, mulled over, and stewed over, and we have come
to a resolution. We at Kardias Ministries are very excited to announce that we have
set our hearts on traveling to India for a mission trip from December 23, 2009 to
January 7, 2009. [Editor's Note: Because of the construction of the House of God
for the Gampala family, the date for this mission trip was postponed to March 24
- April 4, 2010. For more information, go
to the MI-10 page.] While there we will give respect to the widows, bring
a smile for the orphans, and reach out to those who have not yet heard about Christ.
In addition, in the six months between now and then, we would like to raise money
to fund a large project while we are over there.
If this is an opportunity that touches your heart, please pray over the matter.
If you feel that it is the Lord’s will for you to attend this mission trip to India
with us, let us know (see contact information in the footer of the page). There
will only be seven slots available for others to join us, so express your interest
early. Also, you may wish to reference the
CDC web site and begin vaccinations (if that is your desire) as some require
six months for maximum effect.
Sleeping Blankets and Pallets
If going on a mission trip isn’t right for you, perhaps you would like to help with
a donation of time or resources. The Lord has already moved a number of unrelated
people to help our brethren in India even before we announced the mission trip!
One woman was inspired to create sleeping pallets, another couple spontaneously
committed to making sleeping blankets. Neither of these ideas were solicited – they
came out of the Spirit of God moving in the good hearts of His people.
I love to be involved in a work of God where He is the leader, and I am just one
of many people bringing their time, energy, creativity, and resources together in
His service. If God is inspiring you in a meaningful way that you could help, let
us know. If we can enable your service, we’ll do everything we can to help you out.
Based on the response so far, from people spread from California to Tennessee, I’m
guessing that the bags of those called to be the traveling missionaries will be
filled with love, a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over
(Luke 6:38). What a blessing it will be to pour that love out in the laps of our
brothers in India who need so much.
From widows in Indianapolis, to widows in India, we are doing what we can to remain
obedient to the call of God in our lives. Please pray for us that we will be clear-minded,
self-controlled, and strong in these days.
If you have any questions that we can answer, or comments to share with us, please
feel free to contact us.
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according
to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ
Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
Agape,
Brian and Stephanie Smith
